Key Responsibilities
- High-Quality Teaching: Plan and deliver engaging KS2 lessons that challenge and support EAL, SEND, and more-able pupils.
- Language Focus: Explicitly teach vocabulary, oracy, and reading strategies to support our international cohort.
- Assessment & Tracking: Use school tracking systems (GL/CAT4) to identify gaps and implement targeted interventions.
- Collaboration: Work with colleagues across the school to ensure curriculum continuity and smooth transitions into KS3.
- Leadership (Optional): If appointed to a lead role, you will drive curriculum sequencing, coach peers, and lead phase-wide CPD.
Requirements
• Qualified teacher status (UK or equivalent) with recent KS2 classroom experience.
• Strong subject and curriculum knowledge for primary age children, with proven ability to teach reading, writing and maths effectively.
• Experience supporting EAL learners and adapting lessons to develop language and oracy.
• Good assessment practice and experience using data to inform teaching.
• Strong interpersonal skills and a collaborative approach; sensitivity to cultural and linguistic diversity.
• Commitment to safeguarding and high professional standards.
Person specification — desirable
• Experience leading a subject, year group or phase (formal or informal).
• Training in systematic synthetic phonics (e.g., Read Write Inc.) or evidence of implementing phonics strategies into KS2.
• Bilingual English/Spanish skills or experience in international settings.
