Job Summary

We are seeking a passionate, dedicated, and experienced Inclusion Teacher (Special Educational Needs / SEND) to join our dynamic Student Support department. The successful candidate will be responsible for identifying, supporting, and empowering students with diverse learning needs, determined determinations, or those requiring additional academic and language support.

The focus of this role is to ensure all students have equitable access to the curriculum, providing tailored interventions, running specialized phonics/literacy programs, and fostering an inclusive learning environment across the school.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver Targeted Interventions: Plan and deliver high-quality individual or small-group intervention lessons focusing on foundational literacy, numeracy, social skills, and explicit phonics instruction.
  • Develop IEPs: Create, implement, and review Individual Education Plans (IEPs) or Advanced Learning Plans in collaboration with class teachers, parents, and specialists.
  • Support Language & Phonics Development: Provide specialized support for students with speech, language, or communication needs, ensuring clear phonetic modeling to assist with decoding and pronunciation.
  • Differentiate & Scaffold: Collaborate with mainstream subject teachers to differentiate lesson plans and scaffold curriculum materials, ensuring inclusive practices are maintained in every classroom.
  • Assess and Monitor: Conduct regular screening, formative assessments, and progress tracking against UK curriculum and SEND framework standards to measure the impact of interventions.
  • Promote a Culture of Inclusion: Act as an advocate for inclusive education within the school, aligned with the Abu Dhabi Department of Education and Knowledge (ADEK) inclusion policies.

Requirements & Qualifications

To meet UAE Ministry of Education (MoE) approval guidelines, candidates must possess one of the following qualification pathways:

  • Option 1: An internationally recognized Bachelor’s Degree in Special Educational Needs (SEN), Inclusion, or Education with a clear specialization in SEND/Inclusion, with QTS (Qualified Teacher Status) or equivalent.
  • Option 2: An internationally recognized Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology, Education, or a related discipline PLUS an internationally recognized teaching qualification (e.g., PGCE/PGDE with QTS) and a specialized post-graduate qualification in SEND/Inclusion.
  • Option 3: An internationally recognized Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant field with QTS or equivalent, alongside proven, extensive specialist training in learning support, dyslexia support, or speech and language interventions.

Additional Criteria:

  • Language & Communication: Native or native-level English communication skills are required. Candidates must possess clear, precise pronunciation and an accent that effectively supports phonics instruction, literacy building, and speech modeling.
  • Experience Level: Proven experience working as an Inclusion / SEN Teacher within a school setting is essential.
  • Curriculum Knowledge: Strong understanding of British National Curriculum frameworks and standard inclusion strategies (e.g., wave model of intervention).
  • Cultural Awareness: Excellent interpersonal skills, empathy, and cultural adaptability, with an understanding of international schooling and Middle Eastern cultural contexts.
