Job Summary

We are seeking a passionate, dedicated, and experienced ESL (English as a Second Language) Teacher to join our dynamic Language Support department. The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering high-quality, targeted ESL lessons to students whose first language is not English.

The focus of this role is purely on language acquisition—developing students’ core English proficiency in listening, speaking, reading, and writing, with a strong emphasis on foundational literacy and phonics instruction.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver High-Quality Instruction: Plan and deliver engaging, interactive, and communicative ESL lessons tailored to students' language proficiency levels.
  • Teach Phonics & Literacy: Deliver explicit, high-quality phonics instruction, vocabulary building, and spelling strategies to support students with decoding, reading, and accurate pronunciation.
  • Build Communicative Confidence: Foster a supportive classroom environment that encourages students to practice speaking, listening, and writing English with confidence.
  • Support Student Progression: Adapt teaching methodologies to inspire a diverse student body, ensuring lessons meet the needs of varying language levels and age groups within the school.
  • Assess and Monitor: Use language proficiency frameworks to conduct regular formative and summative assessments, track student language growth, and provide constructive feedback.
  • Collaborate: Work collaboratively within the school to share resources, develop ESL curricula, and promote a whole-school culture of English language development.

Requirements & Qualifications

To meet UAE Ministry of Education (MoE) approval guidelines, candidates must possess one of the following qualification pathways:

  • Option 1: An internationally recognized Bachelor’s Degree in Education specializing in English, ESL, or Linguistics with QTS (Qualified Teacher Status) or equivalent.
  • Option 2: An internationally recognized Bachelor’s Degree in English, Linguistics, or a related discipline PLUS an internationally recognized teaching qualification such as a PGCE/PGDE with QTS or equivalent.
  • Option 3: An internationally recognized Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant field with a recognized teaching qualification (QTS or equivalent) and a specialized ESL certification (e.g., CELTA, DELTA).

Additional Criteria:

  • Language & Communication: Native or native-level English communication skills are required. Candidates must possess clear, precise pronunciation and an accent that effectively supports phonics instruction and language modeling.
  • Experience Level: Proven experience teaching ESL/EFL or providing language support to school-aged students is essential.
  • Cultural Awareness: Excellent interpersonal skills and cultural adaptability, with an understanding of international schooling and Middle Eastern cultural contexts.
