Core Responsibilities

  • Key Stage Leadership: Oversee the daily operations, behaviour, and transitions for your assigned cohort (KS3/4 or KS5).
  • Curriculum Excellence: Design and lead high-quality, sequenced curriculums for PE and Geography, ensuring scaffolds for EAL learners.
  • Teaching & Learning: Deliver engaging PE and Geography lessons that prioritise active learning and higher-order thinking.
  • Staff Development: Line-manage and coach subject staff and tutors to improve teaching standards.
  • Enrichment: Lead school fixtures, sports teams, and Geography field trips.

Requirements

•    Qualified teacher status (UK or equivalent) with substantial experience teaching PE and Geography at secondary level (KS3/4 and/or KS5).
•    Proven leadership experience (KS lead, subject lead or equivalent) with evidence of improving teaching and outcomes.
•    Strong subject knowledge across PE and Geography; confident delivering practical PE and Geography fieldwork and enquiry tasks.
•    Experience differentiating for EAL learners and embedding literacy/oracy within subject teaching.
•    Excellent interpersonal and communication skills; bilingual English/Spanish desirable.

Person specification — desirable
•    Experience delivering iGCSE and/or A‑Level specifications and preparing students for external examinations.
•    Experience organising fixtures, outdoor education accreditation or fieldwork risk management.
•    Engagement with subject community (Geographical Association, sports networks or exam boards).
